Senior Apigee Api Engineer

Description:

•API Development & Lifecycle Management
•Develop, operate, and maintain APIs using the Apigee API Management platform.
•Design and implement new API interfaces following industry best practices for security, performance, and scalability.
•Manage the entire API lifecycle including design, development, versioning, updates, and decommissioning based on business requirements.
•Ensure API security through authentication mechanisms such as OAuth 2.0, JWT, API Key validation, and Mutual TLS.
•Optimize API performance by implementing caching, rate limiting, and traffic management policies.
•Operations & Maintenance
•Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot API services to ensure high availability and performance.
•Apply periodic updates and improvements to enhance reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
•Fix technical issues and performance bottlenecks, ensuring smooth API operations.
•Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal governance policies for API development and operations.
•Support & Training
•Provide support to internal developers and API users, troubleshooting issues and offering guidance.
•Train technical teams on how to use, manage, and troubleshoot Apigee APIs effectively.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align API strategies with business needs

Skills and Experience

•5+ years of experience in API development, with at least 3 years working with Google Apigee.
•Strong understanding of RESTful API design, API security best practices, and microservices architecture.
•Expertise in Apigee API policies, including request transformation, security enforcement, and traffic management.
•Hands-on experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, API Key authentication, and Mutual TLS.
•Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, API testing, and automation tools such as Postman, Terraform, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
•Strong troubleshooting skills, with experience in API performance tuning and debugging.
